Quick question (hopefully), in general how hard is it to find a used vanagon camper roof and how much work is it to put it on a non-camper?]

Thanks,

Painter's Grinding in Denver often has good bodies, including tops. Phone is (303)722-5537. GoWesty will also email you a list of salvage yards they use and recommend for Vanagon parts.

Be advised, a standard van is not made the same as a westy/sunroof van.

You can stick on the top, but those German engineers designed the structure of the Westies totally different.

The reputed best way is to use a roof clip with the top. This way you get the structure and the top in one go. You just need to be good at welding. There is a guy selling a couple of roof clips right now in the classified. You just have to dig through the hundreds of repeated ads by one poster or do a search.
