All was well in slider land, then last night went I went to shut it, it came to a hard stop just before closing. I tried peering all around at what two items might be hitting each other but couldn't spot a thing. Then I tried closing it a bit harder, and for some reason (maybe by accident) pushed in a bit at the top front, at which point it latched, a bit more reluctantly than usual, but it closed fully.
I thought there might be a stone in the lower track, but no. Felt all around in there and now know there is lots of old grease.
It is probably time to take it all apart and lube it well etc....but the change happened so suddenly, and the door stops so abruptly, that it must be something more dramatic than a lack of grease, no?

Have you tried it again? Maybe there was something in there and when you forced it closed it knocked whatever it was out of the track???
If its working Ok now that would be my assumption. If the problem persists I would assume something is sticking or binding at that point. Maybe the rail is bent?
Good Luck

it does not take much for the door to be out of alignment ..go inside the van and look closely on both sides of the door at how the "catch " lines up with the corresponding part on the door jam(s) while someone is pushing on the door..clean it up and be prepared to spend some time playing with it...ever so small movements of adjustment can make a big difference...maybe the rollers on the door bottom are worn out and have drop the door a little...this would also create as to what you have described |
