|
|
I am currently looking into buying a bus. My budget is under $1000, so the one I am looking at seems acceptable, but how hard would the body damage in the rear of this vehicle be to fix? What would have to be done? Is the rear quarter of the vehicle a bolt on/off part or is it unibody?

Thanks,
Matt |

THAT SERIOUSLY NEEDS HELP AND if the guy is cool he will tell you so. save your money ....perhaps another five hundred or so and get something that will require less work. i saw a 72 really nice in the recycler for 1,100...nice blue one. granted it is a big tail light bus and has a pancake but you are already getting a bay, why not that one? that shit will cost thousands of dollars if not many many man hours to fix....either way costs way more than what hes asking. that bus should be salvaged only for parts and if sold as a driver it should be around 2-300 bucks or so.....sorry nothing personal. _________________ once you realize im not impressed we will get along just fine |

I hope that $1,000 doesn't include buying the bus. It would require finding a donor to remove the rear section. It is not bolted on. Damage extends forward of the weld line on the left side, how much??? Inner damage is another consideration, how much has the body as a whole has been tweaked to the right????? The rear hatch is toast, some work to the roof required. Inner tray is most likely damaged along with wheel well. Do you know somebody with a frame straightner?
Depending on the cost of a donor bus, who you know and/or how much you know how to do. An easy grand in repairs, rest of the body looks good, to bad a pole attacked it. |

That should be pretty easy. Just a little wax and it'll all buff right out. |

Thanks for saving me! It looked like that would take some work. I am looking for something that would requre much less work to the body than something like that. |

dude sounds like he does not have a lot of cash or tools to do it himself....if he is spending under 1k on a bus then i dont think hell go buy the tools or pay someoneto do this......simply put dont buy it. _________________ once you realize im not impressed we will get along just fine |

If the asking price was $250, it might be a good long-term project, for someone who has lots of time and indoor space for disassembly & parts sitting around. Too bad about the damage; must have been a very solid pole the guy backed into.

Maybe in about 20 years from now that bus would be worth the asking price. |

If it is indeed rust free and no other body damage, also running, the whiners about rusty vehicles should try to scarf that vehicle up. Granted the asking price is little high even for stripping for salvage, but ten years from now when that bus is has been already melted into sheet steel and used to make your chinese toaster there are those that will wish they had bought it.
So far this year I have recued two bus bodies, one with an engine the other without. Finally found a home for both, made no money, but solid body is just that. Better to fix crumbled metal than rust. |

Save your money. I almost bought a similar bus, but waited for the right one. I picked this one up for $950. It needs some work, but mostly cosmetic. But it's straight, and the motor runs. Just be patient.

If your looking for a project, offer him/her $50 more than the pickn'pull will give him, if you can do the work yourself. If you can't do it yourself, find another. |

i bought that bus today runs , shifts and now stops good. had a leaking m/c. bus has lots of power and the 3 rows of seats have been recently recovered. its a non walkthru deluxe and it was worth the price to me plenty of bays in the local junkyards around here so the corner wont be hard to get. |

it was a tree half way down the driveway that was hit. the guy was backing down the driveway and didnt know the m/c had leaked all the brake fluid out. the tree is still standing and is about 8 inches round. i was suprised the tree didnt break in half. |
