Do the 2723's fit into the same wedge base sockets that the original lights were in? |

And 2721 is the proper 1.2 watt bulb for those who like things original(or just dont want 1 overly bright bulb). _________________ 1968 westy weekender

There are 2 bulbs - 3 if you have a clock. _________________ Eric

Has anybody tried the colored plastic covers that slide over the lightbulbs to change their color? I've seen them somewhere.
Nice green or blue lights in the dash. |

I put the 2723s in our dimly lit dash and it is great! Might even tan while I drive! |

FYI it is only the BULB that you will change and NOT the plastic housing.
I searched and searched for the bulb/housing combo only to find out that I only needed to change the bulb.
NAPA has them in stock. |

went with the2723 bulbs to brighten up the bus, what sucks is when I put the new bulb in for the brake warning light - it barely lights up and the alt/gen light is really dim too checked the wire diagram and will be tracing wires today , try to fix one thing and screw up three . i love my bus even though it sometimes kicks my ars. oh yeah I put the old bulb back in and the same thing happens |

not to hijack a thread but in the process of putting new ones last week, I also checked my the female terminals on the back of the instrument panel.
i found a bunch of loose ones which then lead me to the fuse panel where i also found more. about 12 recrimps later my dash lights are nice and bright as well as my gas gauge works now.
you never know what you might find poking around. _________________ '79 Westy 2.0L "Hiltrude"

So the question for me is how in the heck do you get back there to change the dash light bulb or do you go thru the front, or should I just sell the bus? |

You could go from under the dash to change them or you could remove the whole cluster by removing the red and blue air vent "knobs" (just the plastic bits) and the 4 screws that hold the cluster in place. Then ya gotta futz with it to get get the vent control arms through the gap in the plastic so you can get the cluster out. I hope all this makes sence
Dont sell the bus _________________ '71 Tin Top Westfalia

I don't know. I kind of like the old yellowish light. A bright blazing white light just doesn't seem right somehow... |
