I saw in a different post that it was a prototype that was totaled. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. _________________ 1959 Type 1 - Owned since 1983

Well most prototypes are planned for production? They had planned on building them but as I said the fire killed it. _________________ ITMC-El Presidente

It was a one of, for a family member.
I think the car "died" in an accident and there where no official plans to make more of them.
On the other hand there exist conceptual design drawings of in details differend verts and of a coupe wich where made early, so the thought of making one was there from the start. _________________ Master of my domain! |

Isn't there another pic of that car from the front? Is it the one with the wipers that are mounted above? _________________ 1964 Type 1 |

The back licence plate is the one that is used as a "constructors plate" to use on several cars without registration on the car itself.
The plate in front is a regular plate and so this pict is taken later .
It is common in german and Belgium to use such plates. They can switch it from one car to another.
The Heb coupé is wrecked as told. THose are the only picts around. I have to search but I think I have another one somewhere with a beetle . _________________ Zelensis, glassfibre body made in Belgium , disigned and built on a VW platform About 25 body's built.

Peter is correct. The coupe was involved in a wreck and totaled. This was confirmed by Klaus Hebmuller some years ago. The vehicle was strictly a one off.

Hey Guys...
I have got this picture and aditional information on the Heb coupé.
This is a pict that was unknown by me and was send in from a source that want to stay unknown. I have this info.
This coupé was used by the son of Paul Hebmueller, named Karl-Heinz
Hebmueller.
The first foto on the Samba-thread shows a lady standing left beside the Coupé. She is the wife of this Karl-Heinz Hebmüller. That foto was taken on Oct. 14, 1949.
Karl-Heinz divorced from his wife (1949/1950?) and the Coupé was offered as a gift or an indemnisation to his separating wife in the
divorcing-process.
It is not confirmed if the car then was lost in an accident. I did not get
such information from my source.
I greet you all ... If you have info on the hebmuller ... mail me.

Wow, Peter! You really came up with some great info there! I was wondering from the previous photos what was the setup with the quarter windows. You can really see it now in your picture. Thanks a lot! Ooh I love this inter webby thingy |

Wouldn't it be something if that car is actually somewhere in a garage. _________________ 1957 Karmann Kabriolet "Franky"

Look at that front window frame. It wouldn't surprise me if it opened like a Safari window! The wipers at the top would facilitate that. |
