Ok So I know that I am a total dufus. I dropped something into the head of my 1600dp motor. I then drove the car a bit and heard some knocking around from cylinder 3. I pulled the motor this afternoon and took the head off. Low and behold the head is really beat up and the top of the piston looks pretty peened and there is some scoring in the cylinder wall.
So the question is can I replace the head with a rebuilt and run it until it is totally dead? This will allow me to drive around while I can save for a new motor.
Or stop now and be off the road for a long time.
Thanks for the advice.
Mickey

Why not replace the piston and cylinder also?

Seen it done several times. Junk yard (not even new) head, cylinder and piston and drive, drive, drive.

Used to be a big problem breaking off exhaust valves.
