With the recent eBay auction of a nice toilet that my Marc L scored, there has been some recent discussion about the westy toilet and
the differences. So far for the split buses we have come up with
3 styles so far. If you have a different pooper post a pic and give us any info you have on it.

First the Single bucket Black Plastic seat pooper.
Seems this is an early toilet and I have seen this in primarily
`59 so-23s and caravans. It is single bucket design with
3 latches on the lid.

Next is the most common the single bucket with Wood Seat.
This is the toilet I have always owned and I have seen in documented
westys from `60-`63 ish westfalias.
This is similar in design to the above toilet but with a wood seat.
The 3 latches are on the bucket now for the lid.

Then there is the 2 bucket design with Wood Seat which seems to be found in the later hatch top westys `64-`65
This one has an inside bucket that is sealed with the lid and sits
inside an outter bucket that has only 2 clamps. The outer bucket
has two small holes at the rear bottom as well as some sort of
vent possibly?

$1200 ish, is it a lot of money I dunno? I guess consider how often these come up for sale. I "hear" Marc (the winning bid) was already offered more then he paid for it. It takes more then 1 guy to get it up to $1200...I think it is well worth it myself. Would I pay $1200 for one...yeah...do I have a spare $1200 to do that....no Crying or Very sad

Would love to see other toilet owners crappers....
in other words "post your pooper"!
Here is a couple shots of mine...

The trick is NOT to use it as intended, a chemical toilet.
I will use small garbage bags. Keep em stored in the can with some TP.
I always make a rule to double bag it. Essentially nothing touches
the can...and you have a nice little care package to give to your
worst enemy. Laughing

Obviously, it is only used in extreme emergencies... Very Happy

i hear ya. I am just a weirdo. Knowing someone elses ass was on that seat at some point would freak me out no matter how much i cleaned it before hand. I only squat on "home" turf. No "away" ones for me unless it is a relative. i know Rolling Eyes

Sorry to hear, that sucks!
I got a buddy who won't eat meat off a bone or any white sauces,
he won't go anywhere other them home either...seen him almost
blow-a-gasket a couple times....that sucks.

Me, I traveled extensively with a band for about 10 years 5
days a week. I learned to go in a hub cap if needed and they work in
a jam BTW. The westy toilet is SUPER comfortable compared to a
hub cap LOL!

So seriously...let's hear some serious Westy toilet chatter
...anybody got any different then the above 3 styles?

Todd, by the lack of response my guess is there is not alot of these toilets out there and even less knowledge about them. A pic of my toilet is below and is of the second variety with the interior bucket.

I say Westfalia had more than one company making toilets so there was a variation. The mystery of the different toilets may remain a mystery.

My question is what does the inscription under my seat mean???

Hmmm interesting. Both a single bucket design and the
dual bucket design with the same logo under the seat.
That might shoot the 2 manufacturer theory in the foot then.
The 2 styles look identical in manufacture as well.
Possibly it is an early and late toilet design.

Tom do you know what year bus your toilet came from originally?

I need to go check mine...but I know my logo is not painted but stamped in the wood.

Todd
