Biggest thing I think is You lose a big source of ventilation! I love to turn the wings out and get a good airflow! With no ac this is important to Me! I live in a warm climate! Scott |

Yes. The end result is a mess.
Many people's response is "If it's done right they're cool."
Problem is, everyone thinks the job they did is "done right".
It rarely is.
The first thing I did on my 74 was reverse the one-piece rattling mess for windows that I had. |

One of the previous owners put the one piece windows on my 71. I can't really say that I hate them, but the job was poorly done. They rattle a lot, but then again so does the entire car so it doesn't really bother me. I'll go back to the split windows as I'd like the extra ventilation and I think they look cool, but it's pretty low on my list of things to do. |

I've got the one peice glass panels if you want them. They came in a parts car and I hate to just toss them into the recyling bin. Nice and dirty, but appear to be in fair shape. Want them? Come and get them. _________________ -—--------—-------

I'll probably be at the Bug Jam in Dade City, FL. Send a friend and I'll drag them up there. _________________ -—--------—-------

So it means that you can't flop out the rear windows... kinda downgrading... |
That all depends on what look you want. Personally, I like the vents, some folks do not.
But then, who am I to complain? I used to leave the top down in my ghia for so long it would rust in the down position. Would have to break out the PB Blaster to 'break' it lose to put it up. Got to love the humidity in Florida.... _________________ -—--------—-------

I have one piece windows and I love the fact that it is one less place for thieves to brake through. I did mine about 6 years ago and they haven't leak or make any noice. I was making sure to put the little rubber boots on both sides of the inner window channels and at the bend area (where the vent was) I cut it in a way to it makes the arch perfectly. It took me about 2 hours to make it nice and clean on each window. For air flow I am thinking to replace my rear 1/4 windows for pop-ups style. |

Quality could be better, had to replace one mechanism all ready.

I got mine from here (Samba) from some guy that was getting divorse and needed to sale all the "junk" (according to his ex). I got from him too a 2 sets of disk brakes kit with ebrake and fiberglass fenders all around for just $300.00 w/shipping.
But, you can get good quality windows kits from CIp1.com
The most tricky part is the snap-on felts. the rest is a breeze.
I used to live in Miami Beach, FL and park outside and there were lots of car thieves at that time so I was looking the most uninviting way for thieves so they can move on to the next car and not mine. And I think a ine piece window did it. Plus I had a fake alarm blinking light on all times. |
