I currently have a swing axle system on my buggy. I recently found a real good deal on an IRS rear suspension with no transmission. I was curious if you can convert a swing axle transmission over to IRS system?

Oops. miss-read your post.

Yes you can. Requires welding and fabricating skills.

Are you asking about the transmission itself or the whole IRS suspension?

If its the transmission, its simple enough to do if you have the parts, tools and experience. However its probably cheaper to sell your swingaxle and buy a used IRS transmission. A rebuilt one from Rancho is $600.

If your swingaxle is 67 or earlier you will also need to use later drums or add spacers for your drums to fit the longer IRS stub axles. If you want to keep a 5 wide bolt pattern, the best thing would be to get some of the new Thing drums and use IRS brake plates.
