This was my first post with help for Lind. I had some pictures from a junkyard of old buses. Had no idea how to post them so Lind helped me out two years ago. Anyway what the hell is a Junk bus? The buses here where picked apart and as rusted as could be. But when I gave the name of the yard out they where all gone with in six mouths. Tim was happy(the owner). I just what to know what a 23 window (cut) with no inter. and rust out as hell is worth. Do you ever crush a bus? Who The Hell would want these??? Or got them?

There is always something worth salvaging, never crush a bus. Just use what you can and pass the rest on....... JMHO |

Well I guess if you cut them up and sell the good parts thats a plus to everyone. Not that many there if you have to drive to get them. |

What was a junk bus a few years ago is project material today. Some serious rust there but that 15 window had me lookin. Two bullet panels, one's a walkthru, so is the raped 23. And every carcass I see has a part or 2 I could use. Wish that yard was near me! |

Plenty of great stuff there. Think of all the steering boxes/spindles/tranys/and other things that can be saved. That double door panel looks like it could be saved and put back on the road. It would make a great rat.
Is that a Georgia tag I see?
Hmmmmmmmmmmm...I see potential.
Never crush a bus if you can avoid it.
I brought this back to life.
We can do it. We have the technology and Gersons funky green panels. _________________ Thanks, Glenn

I'd like to have that rusty panel. Fix the mechanicals and roll it, provided it's structural integrity hasn't been compromised. |

I would cut out the serial numbers from the body and reweld them on to a set of Gerson's panels.

People are saving buses that less that five years ago would have been crushed.
People are saving buses that were parted out five years ago.
I've parted out buses that today I'd drag home and save. There was a junkyard with five pretty stripped buses that I chopped stuff out of the last week they were open... everything left got crushed. This was ten years ago. By today's standards they all should have been saved. Including the ratty Wolfsburg bus with decent doglegs I did not take. I wanted to save the really rust free 65 standard with nice og paint, but had no idea how to haul it 250 miles home.
If someone chopped pieces off them today I'd give them shit.
I also knew about the '56 Montana Westy ten years ago, but at the time I didn't think it was worth bothering with. I had no clue about early Westies. Greg saw the pic I had still pinned to my corkboard, and we went and got it.
It's nice that more buses are being saved. _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |

This reminds me of the A- holes in my town , they crush stuff like that all the time . Not VW's , I bought up all the old ones and the real rusty ones I got for free , just so those idiots couldn't crush them .
A few years back they crushed a 56 Buick Special , inside there was 4 wonder bar tube radios , not counting the one in the dash , a whole bunch of spare interior panels and it also still had the OG eninge & transmission .
This car could have been restored . I am always watching out for old VW's just so these idiots cant have them . _________________ If you don't like the way I drive , stay off the sidewalk . |

I have crushed
This 66
All these bugs
This T3
and a 73 deluxe T2....
But perhaps my saddest one was this one....
I had gotten all the parts I could from them first... _________________ Feel My Pain l Sage Ad World |
