Beetle tow hitch

Has anybody ever seen or have any info on this beetle tow hitch that I picked up today?

I have had a bunch of hitches that style but none that were for Bugs (mostly type 3 and 4s).

I assumed that this is a beetle hitch. Anybody have any other info on it? I was told that it was made by Gibbs Machinery in Columbia, SC back in the 60's.

I am not familiar with this accessory but Gibbes did make a lot of random accessories.

Hi sc, I picked this up awhile ago and was told this is a Dealer option. This one is for the Super Beetle, (mounts over the bumper shocks) If the photo doesn't show the tongue says::

gibbes machinery Co. Cola. S.C.
pt # 112
Max. gross trailor wt. 2000 LBS
Max. vertical tongue load 200 LBS

Hope this helps you. Also what does your sticker say? mine is painted over but, when I blast this and powdercoat it I would like to replace it. Thanks.
