What's the highest speed you've coaxed your Bus up to? Having it towed doesn't count. I made 90 for a few minutes before I backed off! |

About 87 mph for a good 10 minutes in a '78 2000 cc. (I was going downhill though... does that count?) |

I know this is bay windows but will still say, since I have the splitty single cab.
I did I think about 75 once til I nearly rear ended a civic going like 40. Now I did 55, lol. That was in Cali, this is in Oregon now.
Oh,and the scare...'72 Karmann Ghia, down hill, 45 mph wind pushing me and a friend, we hit 100. Next weekend, he and another friend tried it again and blew #2 piston clear of the case, was never found. |

On the fist test run out on the highway, I got the beautiful orange '77 bus with a FI 2000 up to 83 mph briefly before slowing back down. May have been a slight downgrade, but it was nearly flat, no wind. It was great! My '74 has a 1600 and it'll just get over 60. Jeremy |

I have my 1973 Transporter with a 1600cc up to 70 on relatively flat road. I could have pushed it a little more I think but I didn't want to. It was a one time test. I usually cruise at 55.
