Pro's: Sweet dogs, lovable face, etc. low to medium activity level. Overall, a great breed.

Con's: Braceophullic (sp) aka smooshed-in-nose breed. Therefore, Pugs must be kept indoors. They do not pant effectively, and are not able to cool themselves in hot temperatures. Medium to heavy shedder. Keep in mind you may have eye and joint problems later in life.

They're good dogs. I'd have one (but i have bostons instead)

Yes, I am a pug breeder here in Florida. There are a few people on the Samba that have my pugs. I ship Nationwide.
Mr Breeze's black pup came from me.

One of my male stud came from a very strong show winning bloodline in Utah. The other is from Georgia. My female is from Washington state.

My other breeding female was killed this summer by a pitbull........The pitbull ironically died the same day Cool .

Oh, blacks shed less than fawns.

At the Tulsa show last year, someone in the swap booth next to be had a pug. It was very hot that day, and the pug was hiding under the man's truck trying to keep cool. The way it was panting, that thing sounded like a gorilla with asthma.

Do a search for pug rescue groups and check with shelters. Think how many of these little guys get put down because everyone wants a "new" one. All of my dogs are rescue and they are great dogs!

I have a 6 year old pug. they are great dogs. mine is a runt. She gets a bit persnikety some times, and the big downside is she sheds like crazy. such a little dog.. hair everywhere.

If you like to dress up your dog, get a pug, it entertains my wife for sure. that dog will wear anything you can think of. dresses, hats etc.

We also have a french bulldog, She is much more low key, and alot smarter than the pug, sheds less too. also, a lot more manly of a dog, although still a small dog.

$600 is not a bad price. They sell in some places for $1200. Pet store pugs are the highest priced and you really dont know what you are getting. Your best bet is to buy from a reputible breeder, ask to see the bloodline history, medical history and go to the home and see how they are kept. All of that will tell you a lot about your future pet.

I love pugs, I breed for the love of the dog more than the money. I will not sell a pup to another breeder unless they are reputible because too many people buy them just to mill them and make money.

I know just about any animal could do this but--what's the deal with the females eating their brand new borns? I knew a woman who missed the delivery of her pugs 4th litter and ended up with 2 whole puppies, a half puppy, a pup missing a drumstick and another less two toes. No telling how many she actually ate. This breeder said this breed is particularly known for this but didn't elaborate.

I have never had that happen but I am always there for the birth. I actualy have to do most of it. Pugs cant quite reach around back there to get them out and chew the cord.

Its a messy smelly sticky time.
