Hello, I've been working on my shifter in my 1963 beetle and I pretty much have it all dialed in. My last and only problem is that the ball joint on the bottom of the stick shift pops out of the socket completely when I'm gears 3 and 4! Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Is the shift rod bushing carrier in good repair?
They do wear out and need replacing at least once over the lifetime of a beetle.

Okay so the shift rod bushing carrier appears to be in good condition, I'm just not sure what else to do!

Judging by the other shifter topic that you should have continued....
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=675314&highlight=

It seems you have a stock shifter ?

IF the shift rod carrier support and bushing are in good condition..
and
The shifter is assembled properly with the correct and good condition plate (lock out)..
and
The shift coupler at the rear is in good condition..

Suspect a worn shift rod socket.. or bent shift rod.
