|
|
I need new shocks for the rear of my Baja Bug. The car is equipped with Bus reduction boxes mounted in the laydown position using John Johnson Racing adapters.
I currently have a pair of well-worn Rancho shocks on the rear. When I installed these laydown adapters years ago, I fabricated mounts for 2 shock absorbers on each side, although I have only run one shock per side during this time. It also features Sway-A-Way 28mm short torsion bars.
I have Bilstein shocks in the front and they work great! I'm thinking of getting Bilsteins in the rear also, but I figured I should see what opinions I would get here first.
I'd like to run two shocks per side and each shock needs to be the same length as the rear shocks on a 1968 and later VW Bus in order to fit. _________________ 1957 Vintage Baja Bug.

Nothing?
I figured there must be other reduction box guys out there besides me.
I'll do some research on the Bilstein web site and others to see what I can find. _________________ 1957 Vintage Baja Bug.

| I am running a similar RGB setup with 28mm torsion bars. I ended up with a 10" fox with 60/70 valving. I have seen many run the KYB in pairs but have not tried that. The RGB is alot of unsprung weight so the shock must be fairly HD to control it. |

Years ago I had some KYB shocks on the rear. They didn't last very long.
I think I will save my money for Bilsteins. They have a great reputation for reliability and look cool too! _________________ 1957 Vintage Baja Bug.
