I wanted to go with a MSD setup but just can't afford it. I already have an 009 and would like to go with a reliable alternative. I want to stick with electronic ign. I saw a few people talking about the Procomp setup. Is it any good? How about Compufire, Pertronix, .............etc. _________________ My Build Post

If you are on a budget, try the electronic conversions avaliable for your 009.
See the link Ham posted above for good opions. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

You're going to get the most bang for the buck by changing out the 009, just a good aftermarket dist will wake the motor up in comparison and almost always cause it to run smoother. Unless you're running some pretty high compression the extra/hotter spark of an ignition system is going to have a minor effect in comparison. The quality control of the 009 is pretty poor, many are just wore out and the new knockoffs are fair at best. You may be lucky and have a decent one but most that I've seen cause the timing to jump all over the place at anything over idle and the advance curve isn't too linear. _________________ Chris

Mallory Unilite at the upper end or a plain SVDA from Aircooled.net (ACN)for a cheaper alternative and you could switch out the points to electronic if you don't want to mess with them. I prefer the SVDA, great mileage, cooler temps and good price. John at ACN sells some good stuff. _________________ Chris

Try the Pertronix billet distributor, ran it at the Battle at Primm, Mint 400, and Caliente. Same parts no problems whatsoever. comes with different springs to change the power curve.....Perstronix rocks. |

Both are nice dizzys, I ran an 010 for awhile. I think a rebuilt 010 is running around $150. Not a bad deal. _________________ Chris

I'm thinking about the Pertronix ignitor 2. Looks like I might go with the flame thrower II and the ignitor II points replacement. I could then add the Billet distributor later.......right? When I get some more $ to throw at it. _________________ My Build Post

I have a used Jacobs Electronics High Voltage Ignition system I bought for mine and did not use it. It can be triggered with points or electronic Igniter. I will sell it for $100.00 shipped thats what I paid for it. It comes with a seperate voltage regultor system and an extra high voltage coil.
