what is the biggest bench seat i can fit in the back of a STD '72? Also what is a preferred seat? I will most likely put a kids car seat in the back. |

when i bought the bug it had already been removed. it has the hardware to put one back in just no seat. there is a carpeted piece of plywood that is covering the hole. |

What can happen with a stock seat is it can "bounce off of the battery. I remeber as a kid I was in the back seat with my sister on the road between san felipe & portacito. All of a sudden my sister started to yell. The back seat was on fire. The metal springs on the seat made contact with the battery and lit the horse hair on fire.
In my baja, I installed the middle seat from a Dodge Caravan. It has a lot more support the the stock seat & it has built in shoulder harnesses if your kids are small. _________________ 69 road Bug 2110

The Beard bench comes in a few sizes, but I was told that the 48" would be able to squeeze in there with a little Crisco and good thoughts. Havent measured it myself, but worth at least throwing a tape across! |

Not sure, but I do have a stock seat out of a '76 STD that'd need recovered. Located in Tulsa, just off I-44 near the entrance to the Turner Turnpike. If you're up this way and want it, it's yours. If you want pics, I can get some Saturday. _________________ Les

Will do, I'll take some in a few minutes. The back is still in the car, but will be coming out today anyway. _________________ Les

Here they are, click on the link and then use the next buttons to see the rest. Like I said, it's rough, but free.

What about seats out of like a 90's Bronco ll. The front seats are on these really trick sliders which would make getting into the back easy and the back seat is narrow and folds down just like a bug seat. I've been on the look out for some for my 74 super for awhile now. Has anyone tried this? |

Due to the cage in mine, I could only fit a 34 1/2". So a baby seat wouldn't work. |
