SLA 3D printed and painted a shift knob w/ cool shift pattern:

The small size of the original knobs always bothered me, and any alternatives always looked out of place. So I purposely printed this at 120% the original size, and am very pleased with the look and feel.
Came across the .stl file here if anyone else is curious:

The proper hood with the Wolfsburg crest is now on this 62. This is just one of many projects completed on this vintage beetle.

I’ve taken the “rolling work in progress” approach, we drive it and enjoy taking it to places all over Michigan in between various projects.

When I bought this, it had an 11” steering wheel. This mooneyes one called to me. 13.5” seems like a good size.

I finished the installation of the 2276 in the ZenithBlau 67.

After all the work, I climbed into the cabin and turned the key to build oil pressure.
And Nothing! The starter would not spin. Crying or Very sad
It's a new INI high torque starter and I may have not connected the starter trigger wire correctly.

Turns out the INI starter was defective from the get go. I replaced it with the spare starter from my bench starting rig and the car turned over and fired right up.

Then while the engine was idling, I looked under the car. Oil was practically streaming out of the #3 exhaust pushrod tube seal. Twisted Evil
I moved the car over to the winter storage location and locked the door.

Over the last week or so. I have replaced the alternator. What a PITA with the engine in the car. Got it completed the day before knee surgery.

Yesterday while out driving the JG 67. It refused to idle. I checked for vacuum leaks, none. Checked the carb float bowl was full of fuel after it died while idling for 3 seconds. The bowl was full.

This morning I searched ts for the symptom I was experiencing.
Pulled the idle (pilot) jet and cleaned it with brake cleaner and compressed air.
Reinstalled the jet and, what do ya know. The engine idled like it was new.

I also addressed a twisted seat belt that was annoying. Turns out the installer (Me) had put a twist in the lap portion of the belt.

A bunch of little things over the last few weeks.
I adjusted the choke, carb and advanced the timing 6*. That made it run even better.

Then little doodads I have been doing over the past month or so.

Vintage Air Cooled door handles and window cranks. The cranks are night and day better than the Empi ones that were on there. The parking brake cover is a bit messed up, but they are sending a new one.

Than a Moon Eyes wheel.

And a month or so ago I put on the Vintage Speed cup holder. Wow. This is great.

Lastly today I put on Bug Tech shift lever. This is amazing. The only other comparison is the $20 one from Jbugs. This blows it away. I need to figure out how to get the 8 lined up and down on my 8 ball shifter, but otherwise amazing.

Ive had the veedub bug for many years, but I've only recently wandered into air cooled territory. I got a vanagon westy last year and have really enjoyed tinkering with the systems. I've always liked beetles, so I recently also contracted the bug bug. Long story longer, I was checking it over and removed the fuel tank to get at the master cylinder and steering components. This is the work of art I found. I have never seen better. Anyone else?

After the last weeks snow storm followed by an ice storm. I needed to move the ZenithBlau 67 away from the neighbors fence that was threatening to fall onto my car.
I poured a half a gallon of race fuel in the tank and fired it off. Surprisingly, it started with little drama. Wink
I really like the smell of burnt race fuel in the air! Very Happy
