I finally got around to replacing my turn signal lever. It was pretty quick even though I had two wires left over, and unlike Ikea furniture I am not sure if that is a good thing. Everything works ... |
Everything, like even the dimmer button at end of signal stalk? That's probably what the 2 leftover wires are for. |

Ooh, good guess. On my 66 the dimmer is on the dash as part of the head light pull. This lever and the old one did not have a dimmer. The two remaining were, according to the JBugs tech tips for ground and headlight relay.

Right then, brown for ground and brown with white stripe for headlight dimmer relay. So you get your choice; operate dimmer relay by squeezing end of turn signal stalk, or touch button on your dash control.
Note that the stalk button is normally open. It does nothing until squeezed, making momentary contact, which activates the dimmer relay (i.e. changes dim to bright or bright to dim, depending upon where lights were when contact was made). IDK how your dash button is setup, tho. |

Oh, like high beam/low beam, sorry I thought you meant the inside light dimmer. I have a foot button down by the clutch pedal. I hit by accident all the time
I'll check it out. _________________ Adventures in owning a 66 beetle |

Aah sorry, I shoulda consider'd that possibility & been clearer. Anyway, the foot headlight dimmer switches I'm familliar with are heavy duty enough to toggle between brights & dims without a relay. So, you may need a relay in order to make use of the cute little button at end of turnsignal stalk. If you don't have such a relay, there's one here:

The Baja has advantages having the engine just hanging out. Working on it is a breeze. The disadvantage is it can look messy. I cut a new coil wire and used some Jegs wire doodads to make it look a little less disorganized.

These items actually took place over several weeks.
1. Cleaned transaxle and inserted 4 Weedle Industry plugs.
2. Removed headlights and painted headlight buckets. Installed new headlight drains, parking light bulbs, parking light bulb holders, and headlight rings.
3. Installed new taillight lenses. Installed nutsert on driver's side taillight.
4. Installed front and rear bumpers.
5. Installed new running boards.

Uh, you installed the cutoff on the wrong side.
You should always cut the negative side.
Replace the ground strap with a cable, easy |

Their product is designed to go on the positive side. I don't think it has to be done one way or the other. HotVWs installed it on the positive side as well: https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5f65d253b91...ov2014.pdf

Finally got around to wrapping the exhaust to keep the heat down. All those years of working in bike shops wrapping road bike handlebars paid off

Nice work. When you paint the car will you do interior and exterior at the same time? _________________ 67 zenith blue sunroof
