I know - lots of posts already on the subject. I just need some info on the radiator Shroud.
Having trouble sourcing a shroud, I know a shroud from 83 and later is what I need but it was mentioned it had to be a non-A/C version. I am assuming that is due to the size of the fan motor for mounting.
So is it true that all a/c versions are different or only the 86 and later?
If you happen to have a non- A/C version and lower radiator mounts laying around I would be interested in buying them. |

The Vanagon 83-85 fan shroud are the small motor type you need.
The Vanagon 86-91 can be the small motor shroud, unless they came with factory A/C or are Syncro models.

The original diesel radiator had mount s that are inboard of the later mounts. The pics with screwdrivers show the original mounting hole locations. I got a Behr radiator from GoWesty. The upper channel had slots already cut into the front side of the channel right where the diesel mounts go. I took some aluminum strap material and made a couple brackets that form to the upper channel and go through the slots. I then drilled holes in the back side of the channel and bolted the new brackets to the radiator.

So you were able to use the original 82 diesel shroud with the new radiator? |
