Hi, I recently installed a Bosch Blue Coil and now my engine won't start. I reversed the wire from the distributor to the coil to see if I installedit incorrectly. I only found four wires to connect to the coil excluding coil to distributor. Please respond as this is my only means of transportation.

You should have a lead coming from the ignition switch (thicker gauge wire, likely red). This goes to the positive side (+ or 15, it might even say both). If you have a carb with an automatic choke, it should have a wire running from one or both sides of the carb to the positive side of the coil as well. The condensor (little tube looking thing on the side of the distributer) wire goes to the negative side (1 or -) of the coil. If you have a tach, it would also be connected to the negative side of the coil.

If you accidently hooked it up wrong, you probably blew the fuse when you tried to start the car. So it would probably be wise to check your fuse panel, because even if it is hooked up correctly now, it still won't start with the fuse blown.

Good luck.

Stillworks,

Thanks for the concern! Unfortunately, it is still out of commission. I finally got spark but now there seems to be a timing-related problem. The fuse still keeps blowing when I pull the headlight switch, too!

I'll post in the other thread if I finally get it figured out! Talk to you later.
