Hi,
I want to put a 36 HP fan shroud on my 2110cc engine. I tried to fit it as tight as possible, but I ran into the following problem: The shroud is fitting at the ends of the cylinder tins nicely but the area where the cylinders meets the case is barely covered.
Any suggestions how to fit it perfectly?
Thanks
Karsten

Is it an Aluminum case?-they are thicker on top so they might require some clearancing.

no, it is a AS41 Brazilian case and I already cleared the case area.
I looks like the angle of the shroud does not match the angle of the cylinder tins although they are all original, not aftermarket!

Using sheet metal from different eras can be a problem when trying to get everything sealed up properly; assemble it with the alternator/generator and stand and then see how it fits.

That's a "stale-air" 40hp shroud btw. You may need to grind on it some where it sits on the case to get it down a little lower. Your cylinder tins may need some tweaking to get the angles right.

ALB is right, bolt it all together before you modify anything else.

You'd be better off with a late model shroud and a offset oil cooler.

I use that same fan shroud on my 2110cc engine. The cylinder tins I use are from a fuel injected engine and everything fits together very well.

most I have seen are like that.I use lifeline cover on mine,(the small stuff, sail boat)and it also keeps the tin from chafing&eating at the case&seals a bit better.along with some sealer(silocone or pollyurathane at the big aeras on the case/shroud so It cant be seen but seals, you can fit the shroud to the caseusing the alt/gen to hold it where it go's,trim if needed for clearance, wax the case real good and polyurathane sealent the inside of the shroud so when you lower it and tighten the alt to keep it in place it will make a mold of the case and a perfect seal, the wax should let the seal addhere to the shroud&not the case, so you only do it once.and do it for both side's,well inside the shroud on front&back so it dosent loose air,and you can also make it seal around the oil kooler better while your there.&tins too.there are lots of way to skin a cat, some will get you bit, some just a scratch& a fever.
