I live in center of NJ state.I need help.
I broght my bug to my nearest garage, because it could not run propery. They said carb was so dirty, fuel pump must be replaced, Then I asked them to clean the carb and replace the fuel pump.they did this job about 1month ago, I recentry realized that idling rpm was so high, timing may have been little wrong. I asked the garage, then they set it with no charge. but it still has problem that 1hour afetr starting motor, idling rpm become higher. the garage told me that it may be valve clearance is so tight.
next problem is my bug does not have heater, I mean If I use heater, fume come into the inside. The garage told me that header must be replaced, then I asked them to replace.
The fume became less than before but still smell, also very difficult to feel the warm. they will check tomorrow.
I have new problem. but it is difficult to make decision whether I ask the garage or aother garage.
because they are good people, but they could not fix compleatly, visitting to complaint many times is not very confortable for me. anyone knows good shop. or give me an advice. |

depending on what they charged you to do the job is equal to the amount of warranty you should expect if a shop does anything quick and free they are basically feeling sorry for you and dont want any thing to do with it take it somewhere have them go over the whole car fix what is important and safety in that order and pick away at the other stuff as you can afford it. an aircooled vw is not a car that you can put gas in and drive if your not willing or able to work on it yourself find a good mechanic in your area they are however getting scarce. as for your heater problem your heater channels are probably gone get out your wallet its time for major work hope this helped

hopefully your bug is not at the same shop my bus has been at since AUGUST!!! i told them to take their time. i guess that means a lifetime. there is a good shop(from what i hear) up in bound brook on rte 28. i should have left my bus with them but it was too far from my place. i think you had said you are up in north jersey but i am not sure where. they are near Somerville. i think it is called foreign car werks. there is also a place in plainfield called egertons. not sure of the work there. good luck. |

I'm waiting for a snow-less, salt-less, sunny day to take my beetle to foreign car werks for front end work. If it works out well I'll let you all know. |
