This is a mid 60's wheel:
... and a later wheel.
Note the difference in hardware. Also, there were a number of companies making similar designs.
I have more information on my web site:

| so wheels are being sold without a way to confirm 100% that they are speedwell - it's a balance of probability thing? |

Does anyone know of someone or have a two spoke they'd like to part with. I'd love to fit one to my gasser! Schley Bros style. _________________ Old rides...

so is this a late model speedwell?
the holes match the sizes on DaveM's web site (nice stuff btw), it is just under 15" OD.
i know it's had a hard life and is in dire need of some love.
yes the PO didn't think when trying to fix the stripped threads, still it meant that it cost me less than the petrol i used picking it up
thanks.
henry.
ps. i would only sell it if you offered me enough to pay off my morgage (and buy myself another one). |

I thought the one shown above is the earlier model. I was told the later model had a very small Black plastic button, very much similiar to the type used on a 3-spoke Pre '59 Standard horn button. The button is marked Lucas on the backside _________________ 1947 Typ 11a

the button didn't come with the wheel, though from davem's second pic the button in the background looks like a 56-60 beetle or bus button.
maybe there are 3 types?
the centre on mine is different, the hole is alot smaller, though looking at the pic of dave's it has been opened out.

Realize Speedwell didnt actually make any wheels themselves and several makers made wheels that looked similar. _________________ Sounding like a broken record as to why You should be measuring protein during harvest in order to better your agronomic practices. |
