zig zag wire

I found zig zag wire under carpet of the 63 beetle I'm fixing. They are about 6 inches long and zig zag. I fond them on the floor up front by the heater vents. Does anyone know what they are?

Sounds like the the ones that are used to hold on A heater vent cover. Do you have two little hole on the bottom of your vents.
