Need to ship a 36 HP motor to Puerto Rico from San Diego CA. Anyone have any good advice on how to do this? What does the motor weigh? (Has Flywheel and Generator). Thanks.

My good advice is to make friends with someone who works in a shipping department so that you get their companie's discount, otherwise you will pay book rate.

Chances are that your friend in the shipping department will have a strapping machine and access to a used wooden crate of about the right size.

I'd guess 250 lbs.

Good luck shipping it from Puerto Rico. I'd say unless it is NOS or a 20- Bus engine or a 25hp engine, it's not going to be worth it.

In the USA, I'd say use http://www.forwardair.com

jsbrumcox.net

I shipped a complete 58 bug rear end (drum-drum) and a complete 36hp to PR from LAX. Just get the engine crated and go to Fed Ex. That how I got it out to PR.
