I've posted a bunch of short video excerpts on youtube showing custom metal shaping, dent repair, simple tools to make parts, and fix dents, many helpful (I hope) techniques for the do-it-yourselfer:
http://youtube.com/user/GullWingInn
There are 12 in a series called Custom Metal Bodywork (the last 5 are dent repair), and 2 in a series called tuck shrinking.

Hi Josh,
It just takes time and patience to learn this stuff. Learning as you go, not being afraid to try something to see how it works. The most important thing I have learned is to not put too much credence into what some expert metal shapers will tell you, because everyone learns differently. Keep working the metal, and understanding will come. If someone says that won't work, I'm inclined to try it : )
Thanks, John www.ghiaspecialties.com _________________ Metal Shaping and Dent Repair videos:

Absolutely, without question, one AWSOME tool.
I watched most of the videos on youtube, scrounged a piece of scrap stainless from a local machine shop for $5.00 and made myself one this past week.
AMAZING.
Thank you Mr. Kelly for your generosity in posting the how-to
videos. This turns what would normally be tedious work
into a simple task. _________________ 1960 Sedan. L349 Jade Green. |

Shrinking disc - Shrinking disc - WOOT-WOOT - Shrinking disc - (Watch for music video on youtube soon.)
Absolutely amazing how well this thing works, I HIGHLY recommend getting one if you plan on doing bodywork yourself.
The drivers front quarter on my bug was crunched. I was able to straighten it (for the most part) with hammer and dolly and was gonna settle for using filler to smooth it out…until I came across this post by John Kelly and the amazing Shrinking Disc. After working the panel, as per John Kelly’s videos, I won’t need ANY filler at all.
I'll try to post some before and after pics.
Thank you John.

Okay…I’ll stop now. _________________ 1960 Sedan. L349 Jade Green.

| John a quick question what do you recommend for filling in rust thru holes that are no bigger than a pencil eraser? |

^^ Get a copper welding spoon for behind the hole and just weld the hole closed and grind smooth. _________________ West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943) |

The trouble with small rust holes is that there is almost always more rust than you think in the area. When you cut out sections of body metal with rust holes and look at the backside, you will see areas that are being attacked that are not yet visible on the outer surface. If it is really only a small hole, I would weld in new metal.

I am trying to see the youtube channel you posted by the link, but it is giving me a 404 error, so basically that page does not exists. Can you share the correct one? I am very curious thanks! _________________ ... If you're going to San Francisco

Since you are already in contact with John perhaps you could get his permission to host the videos in the Samba archive or a related YouTube channel once a copy is located. _________________ “…It's not just about what's interesting.
