I have a set of Harrington bumpers for my 64 deluxe. The front bumper assembly will not fit at all. I have VW brackets, VW supports and VW hardware, all in perfect condition. I believe my front blade is drilled incorrectly. The mounting holes are drilled at 2-1/2" on center down from blade top. I believe it should be at 3" on center. One other Harrington owner reports 3" on center. Would other Harrington owners (bug only) please measure down from the top of their blades and post the "on center" measurement?

Oh HELL no! Evil or Very Mad For what you paid for those bumpers, they should almost install themselves.

If you are certain that you have all of the necessary pieces; Harrington would be hearing from me.

Remember that you need two brackets per side.

When installing bumpers, I put the brackets and such on first and then mount them to the car. I know others say that I am backwards but it makes it easier than to worry about additional components after.

I do have all needed parts. I am familiar with this type of install. I started out with all brackets, hardware and parts very loose in an effort to perform the typical beetle bumper "two step". Move, snug check. Loosen, move snug, check. Loosen, etc. I have even switched parts locations in spite of knowing they were right. I have tried all possible combos.
I have contacted Harington, many, many times, pics and all. Hence this post. They have been "less than helpfull".

I have had a direct complaint about the Harrington Group bumpers sent to me privately. If you have any feedback on their bumpers or their customer service issues, please post in their feedback thread at

I finally recieved a replacement set of bumpers. These were also defective. Harrington is again claiming it's my fault. See my post on the buy / seller feedback thread.
I would avoid these guys.

I bought a set (beetle) about 5 years ago and they fit quite well. My only complaint is that the hole(s) for the overrider brace don't line up quite right. Since my brackets are also aftermarket (not harrington group) I am not 100% certain which of the parts is at fault.
From what I am reading it looks like the quality has gone down hill since I received mine.
