Of course, it's "not for sale" "been in our family..." "we're going to restore it" Anyway, I didn't think I'd ever find a car that looked like my 67! lol

I think a 67 is a fatty, or atleast has some fatty traits. In fact I think 65+ are somewhat fatties, with the big glass and all.

That car was a 68 whoever asked.

Yeah, I talked them into letting me go look at the car even though they wouldn't sell it. They didn't come with me so I took my camera and opened the hood while I was at it lol.

Wow, that picture in particular really does look like its twin!

I know you got the typical old car story-it's "not for sale" "been in our family..." "we're going to restore it"

Just curious if you offered them any cash for it? A lot of times cash talks...

Also, where and how do you keep finding all these nice patina VW's? Is there a secret...

On a different note: I too, can't believe your selling yours.

It's behind a business and I didn't get to talk to the owner of the car, just his wife. You can buy cars that aren't for sale and money does talk but I'm not willing to spend any amount for that car. It's super solid but not a car I really want.

I haven't found many good patina cars, and when I do they are usually rotten (like mine) I know where there is a completely OG 65 with perfect patina and OG interior but the guy won't come off of the car. It's been sitting in his driveway for 18 years! I've never offered him over $1000 though but it's not worth anymore than that. I felt that was a fair offer.

As far as my car goes, it needs some serious metal work and I can't weld so it's beyond what I can do and I'm not willing to put anymore money in a 67. Someone out there can and will. I want it to stay on the road, if I keep it, it will get parted out.

Keep that '67 and do up the fatty and sell it.

And no cars '67 and down are fatties. Once they got those chunky bumpers and bobbed hood and decklid they became fatties.

On that note I still want a '68 up bug lifted as my winter bug. Wink
