i know on the front you have to knock the pin out of the door handle and take it apart then theres a small flat head screw you have to loosen to get the actual cylinder out.

Remove handle from Bus
Drive out cross pin with punch (in left center above)
Spring will fall out (may be broken as seen above)
Move finger piece upward to expose tiny screw
Use small screwdriver to undo screw
Insert key, draw out cylinder

Cylinder may be stuck in place due to grease or age. Spray with your favorite cleaner to help it slide out. I use spray carb. cleaner to clean everything up, then relube and reassemble.

Cargo door handle and rear hatch handle are similar except there is no cross-pin to remove, just remove from Bus, remove locking ring, and undo the small screw.

I've got a couple of Ice pick handles that need a new spring.
Has anybody found a good source for those replacement springs?

I have the Wolfsburg West springs on a few of my door handles.

They work well.

I just put one on the drivers door in my panel and it works well but is noticably weaker than the original on the passenger side door.

They feel the same to me on my '61. I have one of each.

I noticed my '63 springs feel weaker than my '61. They are a different design.
