|
|
I’m sure there is a simple answer for this. On the rear fender beading on a 1970 bug, the last 1/2 inch or so of mine has become a little loose. Not sure if it’s original. Does anyone have any pictures on how this is supposed to terminate towards the bottoms of the fenders? Is it supposed to wrap upward an in behind that last fender bolt. I’m thinking of maybe just using some 3m black sealant to hold that last 1/2 inch down because the bead looks great all around otherwise.
Right now it looks like there is excess on both sides that is tucked up. I loosened that bottom most bolt and tucked it back in. |

Hi,
the outer ends of the fender beadings (towards the bumpers, not the running boards) are tucked in so their shape follows the shape of the fenders. They are just fixed by the fender and the pressure of the lowest fender bolt; you should not need anything extra. If you apply sealant there water gets trapped. |

| So the lower end is “doubled up”? You run it downtime fender bottom seam, then go back up like you’re wrapping it under the bottom. What happens to the excess material when you get it to the inner unseen part of the apron? |
