Hi All,
I just bought this carb off ebay, from the pics I couldn't tell what it was exactly but it only a tenner so I thought I could use it for spares if nothing else.
Anyway it arrived in the post today and it has a Huf logo, perfect for my 47 perhaps, but it looks a bit odd, can anyone help me identify it or post a pic of an original 40s Huf carb.
It doesn't have nuts either side of the throttle spindle and the mechanism looks a bit home made.
What do you think
Thanks

I've got a HuF carburetor on my '47 as well. Here's a pic of mine (Left side) next to a later Solex 26VFIS carb

Great thanks Rareair, looks like I got lucky. One quick question about the linkage, is it the same as the solex, ie the same length and secured at the back in the same way ?
Cheers

Many thanks Rareair for the answers to my last questions but I have another, I took the carb apart to rebuild it today and have a problem in that the float is missing, comparing it to a solex carb the cut off valve is central over the bowl unlike the solex thats offset and operated by the pivoting arm which sits in the slot of the carb body.
I just need to know if I can use a solex float and cut off valve, bearing in mind there is no cut off operating arm in the Huf if I used the solex parts there would be more fuel in the carb before the cutoff valve kicks in, would that be a problem ? Maybe the original Huf cut off valve had a longer stem ?
Assuming your carbs are not on a car any chance you could compare the two sets of internals for me.
Cheers

Solex 26VFI has the same structure as the "Huf?" you are describing. 26VFIS with the non-centered cut off and pivoted float is first seen in 1950 parts book. |

Here are pictures from 46 and 49 parts books. The one from 49 looks like yours. Send me a pm with your email if you want bigger pictures.
