has anyone done it?
A friend of mine is parting out a 2001 golf GTI and I was thinking of getting the brakes off him.
Does it involve much to do the conversion?
And are golfs and porsches same pattern?

Lanner from www.vdubengineering.com does all kinds of work like this.
His user name on here (and the German Look forums) is flat.

I'd say skip over to the GL forums (www.germanlook.com/forums) and read up on stuff there.
I'd say grab the brake stuff now, and work on the details later. - esp if it's free

The Golf is 5x100 and Porsches are 5x130. I don't think you'd be able to drill the rotors for 5x130 either, but I've never seen them so who knows. That guy at vdubengineering makes custom hubs which you'll need to fit the rotors.
