Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I've have now bought 2 accelerator cables for a 73 Super and both have been about 1/4 inch too long. In order for me to get the right pedal I have to screw it into the cable itself. If I screw it into they metal end of the cable the pedal is too low. What's up??

I have experienced this with cables too. Make sure you have the rubber tube from the chassis to the fan shroud tube in place. If it is still too long, get a cable shortening kit. You simply clip off the existing cable end and tightly bolt on the little metal adapter, and voila! the cable is the right size.

That cable kit looks like the way to go. So this is the one?

Not if your cable is too long. That's for extending it. You need this one if it's too long:
