I have a 1969 Beetle with a Solex H30/31. It was running sluggishly and had trouble idling. I removed the carburetor and cleaned it. I reinstalled it, and now can't get the thing to idle.

Any suggestions?

(Oh, and I am planning on moving the fuel filter, I just read about that while searching the site. I wish that the original owner had, but now it's my problem to fix.)

I think I might have found the culprit, which was one of the plugs below where the carburetor bolts on to came off. Started right up.

She idles really high now, which screws do I need to adjust to get that set right?

....the larger screw on the left side is the idle air bypass adjustment ...turn it out speeds up the idle...if the throttle plate is fully closed at idle....the smaller screw is the air volume...turning it in=richer mixture...turning it out=leaner mixture.....turn the small screw in gently until it stops...then turn it out 3 full turns...this will get you started...should only have to adjust it + or - 1/2 turn to get the best idle quality....then turn the larger screw to obtain about 900 rpms....I just did all this today on my 1600DP....finally got it right.
