Fellow Busanaughts,
The mid 1970's saw a photo of The Beech Boys taken as they paused by a High-Top Bay Window bus, Al Jardine was sat in the passenger seat.
I was wondering if that bus still exists ? _________________ Current owner of 1980 T25 Westphalia Joker.

Circa 1976, Dennis owned a camper bus, this is prolly it. Looks like a hightop, maybe an Adventurewagen?

Another one.
Edit: It's a Safare. And when I say that, I can't help but think it's a Surfin' Safare

steve is just confused. the beach boys did most of the work we associate with them in the 60โs. โsurfin safariโ was 1962. โpet sounds,โ their masterpiece (at least thatโs what lennon and mccartney - also members of a 60โs band - called it), was released in 1966. steve must be thinking of their stuff long after brian secluded himself in his bedroom.
footnote: the starland vocal band was solidly mid-70โs. _________________ 1978 Champaign Edition 2 Westfalia

Abscate is a very clever and intelligent person. Music history may not be his strongest subject.
He was too busy creating and inventing cool shit at the time

That cheesy song came out in 1988 not the 70s. Itโs ok not to comment _________________ Keep on Busin'

Are we doin this?
OK Abscate: Sail On, Sailor is a great indication of where the BB were going in the early 1970s. Released on their 19th album in Feb of 1973, it hit #79, Re-released in 1975, it hit #49. Does it ever get classic rock airplay? Not really. It sounds like a groovy shuffle until the prechorus when the 9th chords and minor 7th diminished chords drop in, and the vocal harmonies kick off and then it's this perfect little intersection of Beach Boys pop, with hints of R&B and yacht rock.
Here's a snappy version that opens up their 1973 live album:

And if you made it this far, check out this live version of Funky Pretty:

This is still the Baywindow forum, right? I'd rather discuss this than slog through 237 pages of "What oil should I use?"
And I do agree with you that "Kokomo" is dreck.

Now if you could just learn how to copy and paste a quote into a thread it would be even better
