I'm here from the Ghia forum but am having a very hard time finding a Ghia Part that I think may be a Thing part. Where do you fine Thing folks got on line to order parts for your Things? If I can get to some on line catalogues, I may find the "correct" part for my car.
Thanks for any help. _________________ Allen C.

I have a 74 Ghia Coupe and there is a grommet/seal that fits on the gas tank filler tube and fits into the inner fenderwell to keep water out of the trunk area. The greoomet/seal that everyone makes is wrong for the 74 Ghia. It's listed for 68-74 Ghias but is way small. Outer diameter of seal slips through opening in the fenderweel real easy. I was thinking that Ghias and Things have some similar vparts and thought I'd check with you folks. _________________ Allen C.

Ahh, yes I know that part. Unfortunately it is not a Thing part. The Thing's filler neck is like the '68 up standard Beetle. That is, the filler neck through the body is not removable.
Good luck! _________________ --- The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at and repair.

Without a picture it's hard to tell. But the way it's listed is the same as all the others except it doesn't say Super Beetle for the 68-79. I guess it's junk yard diving time. Dang. I haven't been on a dumpster dive in years. This should be fun. _________________ Allen C.

No, that's not the part you want. That's the hose itself. But I think this is the part...

It's the grommet with the flap attached. The grommet seals out water, the flap protects the paint from the gas nozzle handle (just like the New Beetle!). _________________ --- The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at and repair.

I have that one and it fits like a glove. The one I need goes on after that one and seals the inner fender well from the trunk so water doesn't enter the trunk. _________________ Allen C.
