Hello I lost one of my pipes that connect the heat exchanger to the body of the bus. I have a 1964 bus and need one, or perferrably two. Any one know where to get them, or what the official name is? My right pipe I think somehow fell off somewhere on the freeway. Im searching the classifieds but maybe Im not finding anything cause Im not searching with the right name of the part

I call it the heater pipe or heater tube.
If you search just on heater in the Bus parts section, some ads come up.

You can look up the official name in the Bus part manual. Clara has it linked in her signature.

Try heater muffler too. There are 2 sizes, 50mm early, 60 mm late. You need the late. Found that out the hard way..as usual.

If you have the 60 mm heater tubes, 2-3/8" flexible exhaust pipe will work. You find these in the muffler repair section of a parts store. The ones I bought came in 18" lengths that fit right up with a little trimming. I used the muffler clamps that came with the pipe to hold in place (make sure the clamps don't interfere with brake lines or wiring when the axles move up and down). I have this on my 67 SC as some PO decided it didn't need heat in Michigan. Downside is I don't have the little mufflers either which means alot more engine noise when heat is turned on but at least I can extend my driving season.

Ok pipe to muffler fits perfectly. Now is there a name for the adaper that connects the flexpipe to exchanger? Last time I made mine from autozone stock exaust adapers. Only prob is I also ruined my exhaust pipe expander. Dunno if a muffler shop will make this small of a piece or not.

Ok, Now I know why I had to make the other adapter. My bus has 50mm pipe on it. So the flex pipe is smaller on the original one. I dont get it though. I thought I had a late model 64 bus. Vin is 1289927. So the muffler I bought, is 60mm. I just shoved a adapter from the parts store in it and made it work. Also Im wondering why they made the pipe bigger in the later busses. More air flow? Would stitching to the larger pipe help any? I have no idea if the center pipe running down the bus is any good or not yet.

I have a October 1961 Single Cab with the 50mm heat pipe on the chassis and I'm installing a 1600 engine. What are folks using to adapt the small pipe to the larger diameter heater box? I'm seeing heater box repair pipes which looks like they might work?

Yo Tasb, those things in the link are for repairing the rotten exhaust pipe where it exits the heater box in the bottom back.

I can't remember where but someone sells the ring to slip over a 50mm tube (at the body side in your case) so you can use the 60mm flex connectors.

Prrrfect!, thanks for the assist guys. Without something for scale in the repair pipe pic it was hard to tell. I'd seen this ad in the past without recognizing what it was for. I still have the original 50mm heat muffler pipes on the truck so they'll go on the rearward end of the muffler tube to accept the larger diameter flex pipe.

Check out this post for some other ones people made:

Maybe a local muffler shop could whip some out really quick for cheap?

EBay. I found a seller who made custom exhaust parts and sent them the sizes. 60mm inside diameter to 50mm outside diameter, with the wide ends 25mm long and the narrow ends 50mm long.
