In terms of pounds, what is the weight difference beyween a standard bay and a mid 70's westy? Reduction in weight should mean better fuel economy.

It's too easy to have someone else do the work for you. Nobody tries to answer questions for themselves anymore. Pathetic.

Once again I am in the cross hairs of the pc search police. I guess I am what you people say I am, lazy, stupid and pathetic. Guess you never know unless you ask.

But if you had searched, you would have known.

a forum site that never has new posts is dead. Lock this bitch down and call it an archive. I can't believe how many questions are answered "do a search idiot, Or read a bentley"

There are so many oppinionated asses on here that reply to posts with absolutely no intention of being a help. I don't want to be one of those people sooooooooooo

My bus is a 1973 westy interior, no poptop, I've had it on a scale and it weighs 3125lbs

Look! useful information and not regurgitated crap, anything is possible on the samba

You've been here 2 months. Rolling Eyes Come back in 4 years and let me know how you feel about the question being asked that's been answered 38934870933850385 times already. In fact, in the sticky entitled "READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING... BAY WINDOW HELP!!!!," right smack in the middle of it is this:

"The SEARCH button is your friend! 90% of the time what you are looking for has already been discussed (at least once). SEARCH before you ask!"

Those are the rules of this forum. Being that I do not own said forum and would like to keep it available as a resource, we should all FOLLOW DIRECTIONS from the person who does own the site. Get it now?

Everything should be a sticky!!

I don't ask many questions here, because I know the answer..."do a search".

If I don't find it, I look elsewhere on the internet...there are some places that are more tolerant.

It's a damn shame that someone can't ask a reasonable question on this site without being blasted because of a failed search, punctuation, etc... This person was more than likely trying to figure out load ratings for a new set of tires, or seeing if the tires on his/her vehicle now are dangerous. Sometimes the pissing contests on this site amuses me, but my God, does anyone ever consider the more friends you have, the more help you have? The world absolutely does not care if you're sour. Who knows?,... the next person you reply to may become a lifelong friend. What a wonderful thing this interest between us is! Impressionable kids could be asking seasoned vets of this site questions about busses. That's a far cry from asking some dope dealer for some crack!

I'll suggest you read the post again. I said nothing about the search, BusDaddy did. He also asked a question which I answered, then the onslaught of whining began.

The ride: Riviera Sundowner with full top sleeping, bottom Z-bed, folding table, NO CABINETRY.

Me, my g/f, two toddlers, camping gear and some food left-overs with 1/2 tank of gas after a two-night camp out: 3800 pounds.

Minus human weight: 3450#
Minus gas weight and food (rough estimate): 3400#

Thank goodness I have a 2.0L w/stock FI!

Define standard Bay. No camping interior? Pop-top?

Reduction in weight will mean better fuel economy. Better power to weight ratio so better acceleration, too. Proper truck-type tires, well-maintained drivetrain, driving style and speed, all affect mileage. I wonder if anyone will make a carbon-fiber engine lid to help reduce weight? Laughing Twisted Evil

But what fun is a plain ol' Bus? Confused

X2, and god forbid someone asks a tire question, with the almighty "tire sticky" here. That post has so many pages it should have it's own search...

The best new questions and interesting threads are far too infrequent. The best questions get the best help and responses, and they don't even have to be altogether original, just not stupid, or obviously lazy.

If one doesn't know instinctively and immediately why one's own, or for that matter, any given post is stupid or lazy, one probably is now posting, or has recently posted one.

My plan: Wait out the cycle of ignorance, stupidity, illiteracy (never happen), and disrespect for the forum and its highly skilled and knowledgeable members. It'll be more interesting and __________ again someday. Or not. Sad

My sincere apologies for stirring this up, there was around 5 new threads this morning asking questions that could easily be answered with a simple search. Some were noobs, some have been around long enough to know better and get off their asses, I just lost it. I'm back on the meds now and everythings better Wink

Did the OP manage to figure out that a 75 (mid 70's) campmobile weighs 254 lbs more than a station wagon and 375 lbs more than a kombi with no interior at all? Early interiors without the fridge and stove weigh a bit less.

It is in Canada, I always go by when they are closed anyways, the scale is still operational and you don't have to get out of the way of some trucks.

A lot of industrial companies have scales for bulk load out along with land fills. I don't know how tight security is in your area, but out here in the sticks most of these scales are accessible. Co-op feed houses and concrete yards usually have them also. I work for a company that builds weighing/packaging equipment and can tell you all scales are calibrated to work within a defined range. The further outside of that range the more drift it will have. Considering drive on truck scales are calibrated for much heavier loads then a bus your weigh could be off by one hundred pounds or more, but they will get you in the ballpark.
