so i recently built a 1600dp with a remote located oil filter and heavy duty oil pump. after almost 800 miles i deceded to change the oil. Im using a qrt of lucas oil stabilizer and 2 qrts of standard 30w. Now when i go and start the car its hard to start and when i get it started out of the oil filter the oil just shoots out and goes on everything. This has happened twice with 2 different oil filters. I dont think im over tighting them. Just hand tight and i should be good. As you can tell from my other posts this 1600dp is a nightmare or i just dont understand mechanics and need an engine builder in my area. |

No need for the Lucas stabilizer or an extreme pump in a fresh engine.
If you use anything use their synthetic additive and no larger than a 26mm pump.
The filter qualities are all over the place too.
I like NAPA oil filters made by WIX or a washable style filter by Geers Engineering.

I would change the oil to a quality 10-30
Change the filter to something quality also
If you have oil light / oil pressure issues after that.... You have a problem with the engine. _________________ If you would like to contact me, just email through one of my ads on here...

ok so no lucas and a different filter. i used 3ow and a mauhle filter after the build. no problems at all. then after lucas im screwed. since the lucas is so thick do you think its adding pressure to the system? |

STAY AWAY form lucas stabilizer... especially that much....
the last time i used lucas, i used about 1/2 qt and within a week of dailydriving i spun a bearing on a motor with no previous issues.
upon researching i found out lucas HD stabilizer likes to foam up.
my crank was WELDED to the bearing. sucked but live and learn used good ole 10-30 ever since and never had an issue _________________ Brian

If you use Lucas stabilizer in a thick oil, your oil pressure is probably topping 100psi.Use a quality, proper viscosity oil, ans mentioned above, and forget the useless miracles in a bottle. |

Why did you believe you needed an additive in a brand new engine? Not bashing, just curious. Was it their marketing that got you believing you needed it or another reason?
Double check that the rubber oring on the filter didn't stay on there when you mounted up the second filter. had that happen on a boat and it completely redecorated the engine compartment with 10w30 . _________________ Royals 2015 World Champions

what kind of remote oil filter adapter do you have? Some do not have good surface where oil filter seals on the adapter. Do you have oil filter fitting all the way into the adapter?

i used the lucas because of marketing. the display had clear plastic and gears in it. one side lucas, the other regular 10-40. the lucas covered the gears and stayed with gears longer.
ok back to the pump its a stock oil pump and not a hd one. but the remote location filter is a simple screw on one that mounts in place of the original pump. nothing performance just adds a filter. Sorry for the confusion. i was pissed cause i missed work again and my car is still in the driveway. any other suggestions?
and on another note i used the lucas in my 1300cc and yes it foamed up. i thought it was moisture.
i need to stick to the basics. |

This engine isn't full flowed is it? If it is, you could replumb the remote filter out of it and isolate that as the problem.
Either way, get the oil changed. _________________ Royals 2015 World Champions
