Does the radio slot for the dash change ever? I have a 65 deluxe with a seriously hacked dash, but original radio in the slot. I guess they hacked it to put something else in then rewired the original when they sold it? anyways, I am looking at buying a 59 radio section. will this fit? Also, how much do you guys cut out of it when welding? how much is repaired? thanks. I will start posting pictures of my resto soon, it is getting close to time for paint

The '59 section will work for you. Where you do the cutting and welding really depends on how yours is hacked. There is no "this is how/where" on this fix. Post pics as you mentioned you would and I'm sure you will get lots of ideas of how to fix it. _________________ ____________________

my 67 has a different radio block off plate, and theres a extra hole for the warning light. im not sure if there are any other differences. check the technical section. to see what was added year to year. _________________ No Coast VW Club

My buddy Kirk helped me with my '59. I think the donor piece came out of an early '60's bus.

You should see the rest of Sean's pictures. That Westy will never be a 100 point vehicle but it beats the fate it was headed for before Sean rescued it and returned it to a useful life. |

The LEAKOIL guys all helped make it happen. I was initially a bit intimidated about the dash. The key with a dash repair is to measure and cut very carefully. It's all about piecing it in. The fit is really key. The welding is easy, if you fit it right.
Toolbox provided, and continues to provide, plenty of good advice.
On it's way to the crusher with a cut dash (almost)...
On it's way back...
