|
|
Just got my new (50's) Montgomery Ward single wheel. No pics yet, too busy trying to get it on and get the bus ready for a trip, but will post some pics after the trip. My question is about where on the bumper would be ok to mount it. I know thathe trailer should have a slight downward angle when attached, so from my measurements the mounting point needs to be about 12" of of the ground. Since my 78's bumper is squared I can either mount it on the back side of the bumper and have it at 16", or on the bottom of the bumper and have 11.5".
My real question is, is mounting to the bottom of the bumper going to be strong enough, or will it be likely to tweak, bend, etc. I know mounting on the back would be stronger overall, but will mouning on the bottom be ok?
Ideas, thoughts. I'll be mounting it up tomorrow (hopefully) so anyone with any ideas please weigh in on this. Thanks |

I would not mount to the sheet metal of the bottom of the bumper. The only solution I can see would be to mount using the lower mounting holes in the bumper to bumper bracket through-bolt areas. At least then you are attaching to something that is somewhat structural. _________________ Check out my video series at www.youtube.com/midnightoilgarage |

It looks like I can tap into that bracket mounting hole. Plus I will have two other attachments per bracket with steel mounting plates. |
