So I was just wondering what you all thought as I have a 75 bay window bus that's cranking slow then stopping like the battery is dying but after trying another battery I'm sure is good, cleaning the ground from the battery to the body and changing the positive battery cable and ends with different ones I'm still having the same problem and before I pull the starter thinking it might be a bad bushing I was just wondering if there's anything else I should be checking before I pull it? What's the voltage reading across the battery terminals while trying to crank? _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. I'll check it on Monday as so far I just tried charging the battery that was in the bus and tried another one out of my other bus I'm sure is good. _________________ Looking for Groovy Bumper Stickers? Check out my Ads! |

It could be a worn-out bearing in the gearbox, the one the starter shaft uses.
How does the engine feel when you turn it by hand? |

Thanks I had a little time to look at before work today and ordered a new meter as my old one is junk but today after putting a battery charger on the battery I noticed the charging level when from almost 100% charged and dropped to almost dead after cranking the engine so I'm suspecting you guys might be right about the battery being bad along with the other one I also tried the other day I'll know on Monday when I get a new meter and will update you on. Thanks again. _________________ Looking for Groovy Bumper Stickers? Check out my Ads! |
