I purchased one of the custom made dash trays from one of our posters on this forum "fairweather". He has set up an online store at www.vanagonaccessories.com.

Not sure if this kind of thing is frowned on here in the forums, but I'm giving his dash organizer a huge THUMBS-UP. UPS guy dropped it on my doorstep, and one phillips head screwdriver and 4 minutes later it was on my dash. (3 minutes to unpack it, 1 minute to install)

I freaking love it. It looks like a work of art, and shows real craftsmanship.

I've got nothing to do with his company, just loved the product, and felt like sharing. Laughing

Those do look nice... I wonder if he could work up and sell a little drawer to fit under the closet in a Westy, in that little gap between the bottom of the cabinet and the engine cover. Maybe with rubber stops on the bottom to hold it in place...

And maybe a little drawer and a template for people who want to turn the spot under the seat into a secret storage compartment. I've thought about doing that, but I don't like gambling with sheet-metal cutting.

Best!

Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad people are finding them as useful as I have, can't really function without mine anymore.

Bring it on Very Happy If you come up with a cool idea I'll buy one. I need all the help I can get when it comes to keeping my stuff organized.

I won't do custom work on existing cabinets unless the van is at my shop, every van is a little different. There are many spots that could be used for a hidden drawer or secret storage Cool

It should not be frowned upon, this is exactly what forums are all about. Sharing user experiences with vendors, tools, techniques, etc....

there's good pictures on the website, and the stuff does look very well made! I don't want stuff on my dash, but the center floor storage, unlike my plastic gowesty thing, looks solid and fits the floor angle. Very nice.

I checked out the website; both the dash and floor organizers look great. Very nice work! Building a floor organizer and some trays to go between front and jump seats (Wolfsburg edition) have been on my to-do list for awhile. I'm not a fan of driving with hot coffee on the dash, but it sure would be nice for when I'm parked or for light things like my sunglasses when I'm driving.

Received mine today and I am thrilled with it. It molds beautifully to the contour of the dash and it is a high quality piece of workmanship. When I first installed it I was worried it would block the site line to the radio and dash knobs.... it doesn't! Ergonomically designed and well thought out accessory for the Vanagon.

If possible show a pic of the dovetails.

While we're on the topic of organizing, I found one of these at Target and wood-screwed it in to the space on the front of the driver's seat pedestal...Doesn't interfere with my feet and offers handy storage right beneath you. I can't find the tan one that I have, but this is basically the same thing. I need to find another tan one for the passenger side:

Hey Joe...there is another thread showing how you can remove the front panel under your feet and under the seat and there is a nice area to make a sliding door in there.
