Remember maintenance for stuff other than our trucks !!! This is our 2023 refrigerator condenser fins after 2 years; note that the User Manual for this does not even mention that this needs to be done. A panel in the rear must be removed and then the dust vacuumed out. I understand Arizona with horses in the yard and 2 dogs in the house is a very dusty area...
User Manual does state NOT to remove the rear panel, to prevent electrical shock. Even the troubleshooting section never hints that cooling fins could be blocked if one has loss of cooling.
Next up: clean out internal screens and filters in dishwasher; again, not mentioned in the owner's manual... _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. They don't mention these things in the owner's manuals because they don't want you to maintain them yourself. They'd rather you call their maintenance folks out for service, or better yet, just go buy a brand new appliance when the current one stops working. _________________ 1960 Ragtop w/Semaphores "Inga" |

We have a winner!
How about the homeowners insurance renewal inspection saying things like "roof is 20 yrs old, past life expectancy, requires replacement" and "peeling paint, house painting required" with the kicker, "if not completed by policy renewal, may result in non renewal." _________________ my59: Well son, my grandfather died before I got to drive it, so does that answer your question?

Around here if your domestic hot water heater is 10 years old they threaten to cancel your insurance. I have had them last 20 years, drain the gunk out once in a while and replace the fiberglass/plastic down pipe on the inlet side now and then. _________________ Our cars get old, we get old but driving an old VW never gets old! |

I went through this BS last year. First, the insurance company I'd used for several years stopped doing business in CA, AZ, and Florida because liability costs had become so high. So my agent signed me up with another company, and a few months later that company demanded I get a new roof for my Phoenix place or be canceled, so I let that lapse. I ditched my agent and looked online, settled on State Farm (even though Jake Stone Was Replaced By Actor Kevin Miles In The State Farm Commercials) who covered that home, all my vehicles including the ones on Hagerty, which is one of their companies.
However, I then got a letter from State Farm that my place up north was going to be off the homeowner's insurance due to its roof age. So I started looking into getting different insurance just for that place. I went online to Liberty Mutual, Dog and Limu Emu were busy, and Liberty also didn't like the age of my roof. Liberty referred me to their sister company Allstate, which "accepted" me.
So far neither place has gotten its new roof, and there are no leaks, and of course it doesn't rain much in Arizona. But what a hassle !!! _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. The '71 now has the 1835 engine, swapped from the '70.
