| ok guys, I just bought a pair of 40s and learning. I have a stubborn barrel that won't squirt...on the car or off. Ive cleaned then out with carb cleaner 3 times. Disassembled them twice and blown them out numerous times as well, including jetting. The opposite barrel squirts fine. I have a new pump jet from Alfa1750, new seal, rebuild kits installed. Nothing seems to make this damn barrel squirt. What am I missing? Internal problem?? Thank you for any help |

Take the top off. Unscrew the brass plunger piston screws. Take out plunger and ball bearing. Spray some carb cleaner down. If this doesn't work after u close it up, reassemble and pull diaphram cover off. Spray some pressurized air in the hole that feeds up the trouble pump jet path. _________________ 2276 IDA's 86C 11-1 DD

| Remove the pump diaphragm cover, diaphragm, and spring. There are three holes, one goes to each of the two nozzles, and the other goes to the check valve ion the bottom center of the float bowl. Using the straw on a can of carb cleaner, you should be able to each nozzle to squirt by spraying through the holes. If not, remove the brass screw that covers the weight and check ball, make sure that it's not stuck or blocked. Something is blocked |

It should be simple.
The fuel goes up the passage, past the ball, past the weight, then through spring into the jet. So, what part of this could be wrong?
Either the passage is not free, ball is stuck, or jet is clogged.
When you "clean it out" are you seeing the carb cleaner coming out the other end of the passage?
When you take it apart; is the ball stuck requiring banging it on the table? or does it fall right out? |

thanks guys, got it figured out. Hex plunger was actually stuck.
Typical baseline settings for sea level is 60 idle, 140 main, and 180 air for 40s with 34 vents, right? Thank you |
