Just thinking, If my battery was too low to turn the starter, could I remove the alternator belt and spin the alternator pully manually and actually charge the battery up? Jim |

If you think you could get it up to 800 rpms or so it would work, but your going to have to have some pretty quick strong fingers to accomplish that. |

Yes....
But you would have to spin it at least 1000-1200rpm just to excite the busings and start generating power, and then keep it spinning for quite a while. Probably worth the trip to Autozone for a free carge. _________________ Scott

Get a old 1/4 or 1/2 hp 110v motor with a v belt pulley on that, stick your alt bet on it and on the alt plug it it and let it go. I think some of them spin at 1725 rpm good enough to get it charging. _________________ It's a Volkswagen Thing, Even I Don't Understand!(o\|/o)
