Hi everyone, I just replaced my water pump, thermostat housing, sensors, thermostat, coolant, oil and filter. Before I go any further with transmission stuffs, I want to solve something:

It's having problems going up hills and accelerating on flat ground.... hills it used to have no problem going up. Basically, it feels like it is intermittently losing power, does this cold and hot, it is most noticeable on hills, but flat acceleration is similar. But does not happen as often when hot. I replaced the fuel filter today in an effort to fix this problem. Could it be the new temp II sensor was bad? bad connection with it? some weird cross sensor issue i'm missing? something else?

Idle's great, revs fine, cruises fine on flat ground, etc.

Crud in your fuel tank blocking the outgoing spigot when going up hill.

I would be more inclined to believe that it's crud on the fuel tank outlet screen since I had the front end jacked up for about a week. But, is there anyway to actually check and verify without taking the tank off?

Also, if it is crud in the tank, is there a recommended way to clean it? or do just need a new gas tank?

A new symptom I noticed today was that it is much more pronounced when it's cold, even facing downhill, get significantly better when it's warm, but still there, i.e. it doesn't have the acceleration it used to have....

Is it worth draining the tank in preparation to drop and clean? Should I put back the old sensors? I'm at a bit of a loss here and I don't really have too much time to waste tracking this down..... Sad

UPDATE - Just incase anyone was wondering - I solved the problem, had nothing to do with the gas tank, vent tanks, etc.

Turns out I screwed up distributor timing after incorrectly marking my distributor when removing it per some online instructions for replacing the water pump. Embarassed

Runs amazing now. Better than before even Cool wife said that van is like an addiction. Rolling Eyes
