|

Just curious, but to the guys that have put wood flooring in their camper, did you put it under the sink, jump seat and z bed? Anyone have pictures of this? Im about to put some laminate wood in mine. I have everything out, so Im wondering if everything will fit back in ok if I put the wood across the entire floor( with the exception of the mounting brackets). Next question is in what order is the best way to put everything back in? Mine is a 69 by the way. _________________ 60 Rock Grey Vert |

I did not extend the flooring underneath the zbed. I think it would boost it too high for the fixing places on the back shelf to work well. Also my zbed has its own floor, so it would not need another one.
Cheers

Makes sense, so what did you use to trim it off? around the edges of the furniture? _________________ 60 Rock Grey Vert |

I did not add any trim to the edge of the zbed, just butted the particle board up and then tiled right up to it. the other furniture does sit on the floor so no problem there.
Below is a picture I took for another thread about the edging. Might help
Cheers

Looks good. The only concern I have is that with me using pergo type floor, I have to cut the edges on each sheet. If they arent perfect, it is gonna show. _________________ 60 Rock Grey Vert |

The original vinyl flooring with underlay, etc was almost 1/2" high. This is why the inner mounts for the jump seat and the front mounts for the z-bed are up about 1/2".
I put in a laminate floor a few weeks ago. It consisted of:
Laminate Flooring (5/16")
Thin foam plastic they sell as underlay
1/4" plywood
Roofing felt.
That came to just about 9/16" It fit nicely under the jump seat, z-bed, icebox, and closet.
Note: the original floor DID NOT go all the way under the z-bed, just up o (not around) the front raised mounts.
I used Plantation Oak Laminate at Lowes, which (IIRC) is about 52 inches long. Anyway, if fit perfectly up to the z-bed mounts without any cutting. And..., a single box does the whole thing with one plank left over. The only cutting I had to do was holes for the 2 inner jump seat mounts and ripping the last plank the correct width to fit.
For the edge, I used a ceramic tile trim Lowes sells. It is 5/16" and fits perfectly around the edge of the laminate and is held in place with some Sumo glue.
p.s Yes, the icebox is a transplant from a 1972 bus. If anyone wanted to trade me for a 68-70 color laminate icebox......[img][/img] _________________ 1970 Hardtop Westy w/1600DP - "Betsy"

Thanks uiterwyk. That helps a lot. Looks great. And Hazet guy, I appreciate you doing a search and posting the results, but I have been through most of those threads without the exact answer I needed. My specifics were really about whether to go under the furniture and what effects that would have, and the order in which to re install the furniture. So, if it offends you to have another floor thread, as soon as I get good answers, we can have it deleted. _________________ 60 Rock Grey Vert |

In the future, please add to an existing thread so people can find everything in a single place. |

I cut the floor around the sink, removed the fridge/stovetop and cut the flooring just under the door of the bed. Made things alot easier to fit, and no one sees under the bed anyway. Could'nt believe how easy it was.

I didn't go under in mine as well. I believe the subfloor has to go under...there's some spacers that came with the bed for that. But the actual floor did not fit under the bed.
In hindshight, maybe I should've gone with a thinner subfloor, I went with the recommendations of some members here, but I also put a little bit of foam underlay (the kind that goes under laminate anyway) and that little bit is what added up.
This is the original trim piece that came with the bus, as well as the white plastic piece. It cleans up good with dishwashing liquid.
As you can see, the flooring goes fine under the jump seat as well as the fridge/cooler thing.
The net result though, is quite nice, to my eyes at least
And yes, someday...I will change the canvas. I think its just about the ONLY thing left for me to do _________________ ---------

Very nice and clean. I do not have that original trim piece at the sliding door unfortunately. Seems like someone took this thing apart, then lost all of the little pieces. Trim, screws, etc. _________________ 60 Rock Grey Vert |

I did extend mine under the bed. Mind you I do not have the stove or fridge in mine either. Or the cabinets for that matter!
The bamboo flooring from Home Depot came with the trim peices. i just had to do a little cutting.
I think it looks pretty good!
