my van is the off white , beige kinda color. It was halfway through a subaru conversion. The engine is installed, the wiring harness was only half wrapped up and most of it was hanging out of the rear closet. It has a homemade exhaust, all the headers to a collector but no muffler or cat. Please keep your eye out for it or for parts that might leed me to it. It has a dent on the slider door, and just behind the slider on the body. sean 805 907 6776, or [email protected] |

Wow, someone actually stole a van by towing it off? Where was it parked that they had access to it? Do you have any pics that would help identify it? |

Stolen vehicle note: Make certain the police have the correct VIN of the vehicle (yours) they're searching for. Have them read it back to you. I had a motorcycle stolen and during a followup call found they had transposed some characters and so would have been looking for the wrong vehicle. Worth checking. I got my bike back, and I hope you will be as lucky. |

Are you sure it didn't get towed? I thought my car was stolen once, when I called the police the first thing they asked was, "Are you sure it didn't get towed?" Sure enough, it was in the city impound lot, because I allegedly blocked a garage. I sure didn't see any garage......... _________________ 1984 Vanagon GL

As Gauche1968 suggest make double sure it hasn't been towed, even if it was stolen the thieves might soon abandon it because of the half finished conversion and leave it in a no parking area, at which point it may be quickly towed. Don't depend on two branches of the police to communicate with each other.
My brother had a car stolen in Calf a decade ago. Before he even knew that it was stolen, it had been abandoned and towed. He didn't find out it was sitting in a police impoundment yard until months later when he was notified that his car was up for auction. |
